Thursday came at last and the kids went off to school, excited to see what sort of Halloween celebrating awaited there (and came back with hands full of popcorn, treats, and crafts). Jetta went to Abby's house to decorate cookies and then also enjoyed playing at the park. We did our nails and talked about Halloween at our little "preschool." And then finally it was late enough that the kids came home, they all got in costumes (Jetta finally decided to wear her Rapunzel costume) and we had our annual mummy dogs and pumpkin curry soup in bread bowls before taking pictures and then heading out to the neighborhood weenie roast (the kids were nicely still hungry, so enjoyed hot dogs and donuts and chips). It was fun. The weather was a bit cold, but mostly nice as we traversed the neighborhoods. Marri went off with friends, and we joined up with Skyler and Abby and learned more about the streets near us. For instance, the owners of Mrs. Cavanaghs live one neighborhood over. That's a definite bonus.
At about 8 the kids were quite done and came home and spilled out their loot. Marri joined us about 8:30 and we got cleaned up, candy put in the huge bowl, and settled in for a family sleepover in the great room since the kids didn't have school the next day. We watched Phineas and Ferb and decided it was time to show the kids Dr. Who since it is now trendy. Sophie was way too scared, Cecily and Marri, however, love it. And by the weekend end, we had watched four. It's quite fun watching them again with the kids and watching their reactions. Jetta was quite high on candy, diving bombing into the pillow pile over and over until about midnight. Made me laugh.
Sunday morning we went to my new nephew's David's baby blessing, which was very nice. We headed to Seth and Brit's afterwards for a morning brunch, which the kids were excited about since they only had to fast until about 10:30 a.m. And the brunch was also lovely and we enjoyed talking while the kids played and played.
Then mom and dad came for dinner and we enjoyed visiting as the Sunday sun dropped behind the mountains way too soon.
And more of Jetta being a sweet little pumpkin before we throw out the pumpkins:
