And then it was Rob's turn to pick his museum. Of course he picked the Library of Congress where we had a tour and saw some amazing documents and some cool exhibits, like rob's favorite, Thomas Jefferson's Library. It was more nerdy than fun, but I still enjoyed it.
After this, we had one hour and so we ran over to the Smithsonian so I could see the Hope Diamond and a few other exhibits. We needed like 20 more hours, but what we saw was really cool and I want to bring the kids back. And I might try to go back with Ashley tomorrow.
The last museum was the Smithsonian Postal Museum right next to Union Station. I was more "meh about it, but Rob got really excited about these cancel stamps. Like he took like 500 photos (ok more like 20). He's such a nerd.
Here's a video of much of the day's events...
And then we headed up to the Theological Seminary, pausing to check into our hotel and have a quick meetup at Chipolte with some awesome historians. Then over to the Faith and Knowledge Conference, the whole reason we are here this weekend. The amazing Phillip Barlow gave the opening address about the intersections of faith and knowledge and almost made me cry. It was important.
After the conference, we headed over to Virigina to meet up with some bloggers for a fun little dinner. I loved making my virtual friends turn into real flesh and blood people. We laughed and chatted and hugged and just had a grand ole time. And I got to hug Tracy and Karen. Awesome.
Then back to our really nice Marriot hotel in Chevy Chase.
